Tim Pierce, Ph.D.
Senior Pastor

Tim Pierce is new to Woodland Heights having only come to the church in 2009, but he is not new to the area. Previously he served as a Professor of Biblical Studies at Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth for nine years. As you might expect, Tim is passionate about deep, meaningful exposition of the word of God. What’s more, Tim possesses an enthusiasm for seeing all the members of the Church expressing themselves in authentic worship.

Stephanie Thames
Minister to Children

Stephanie Thames has been a Children’s Minister for over 10 years. She is passionate about children coming to a deeper understanding of who God is. Her favorite time of the year is Vacation Bible School. Stephanie joined the staff of Woodland Heights Baptist Church in July of 2010. Before she came to WHBC she was on staff at Houston Northwest Baptist Church. She has a BA from Howard Payne University in Religious Education. Stephanie has been married to Trey for 17 years and they have a daughter, Madisynn.

Tyler Downing
Minister to Students

Tyler Downing serves Woodland Heights as our Minister to Students. Tyler received his Master's in Christian Education and Student Ministry in 2010 and has worked with students for over 6 years. He has a desire to disciple teenagers in hopes that they would grasp what it means to follow Christ without reserve. Tyler has a passion for missions, enjoys mountain biking and is rarely spotted without his coffee travel mug in hand. He also loves spending time with his beautiful bride Megan!

Karen Folkertsma
Minister of Worship

Karen Folkertsma joined the WHBC staff as Minister of Worship in February 2011. Karen, along with her husband Philip and their three children, come to Woodland Heights from a church plant here in the Metroplex. Before that, the family resided in the Northwestern United States where Karen finished her Bachelor's degree in Music Education from Seattle Pacific University. Karen enjoys teaching guitar in her spare time and desires nothing more than to see God's people sing His praises with passion and sincerity.
