Current Sermon Series Information and Reading List

WHY A READING LIST?

An informed, equipped, listener receives a message better than someone who comes into a discussion cold and unprepared.

Because of this, I have prepared a list of a few books that a person might consider reading through in addition to their Bible reading to help supplement their knowledge of the sermon series we are currently investigating.

This list does not necessarily involve an endorsement of the content of the books involved, only that reading them will help the member be more prepared and able to dig deeper into the biblical texts being considered. While I will attempt to avoid books that I find lacking in either a biblical worldview or in useful insights for the average reader, I am expecting members be able to use discernment as to what part of these books they should accept and what they should reject.

I have placed the link to their page on Amazon so that you can investigate each book a little bit more.

Job, A commentary by Francis Andersen in the Tyndale O.T. Library series. Easy to understand, conservative,  coverage of the content and issues raised by the book of Job.

The Elusive Presence, a theology by Samuel Terrien dealing with the tension between God's transcendance and presence.

A Commentary on the Book of Job, A commentary by Edouard Dhorme and Harold Knight. Though technical, considered by many to be the foremost commentary on the book of Job.
